Okay, after the show's... couple of long hiatuses, Superboy's character has developed and I want to know what you think of it...
Personally, it seems like in episodes that are NOT center around him are the best. He seems to opening up more, has a better approach with civilians, like how he handles taking care of kids in "Misplaced", though he still seems to play that "dark loner" trait that doesn't fit well with being affiliated with the Superman "S" (unless they're somesort of villain, like Cyborg Superman or Superboy Prime), and that's what what I kinda hate about his centered episodes: He is still a grouch with no real emotion or development whatsoever and hardly any of the team is with him. Sorry, like I said before in a dozen other posts, 90s Superboy was the first comic book series I read and I am more use to him being a ego-clown teenage celebrity... and has anyone else notice that it's Conner always getting the cool stuff?
The Sphere/SuperCycle
A civilian motorcycle he never uses.
Megan as a girlfriend.
Wolf.
The Shields.
Yeah, instead of having episodes where he develops any kind of character-progress, they just give him self. I know being with Megan gave him some depth, but still... he is still all pouty about Superman, do something about it. Closest thing we got is the "taunt" ending with Lex in "Agendas", pretty much same as Megan with Bee and Artemis with Sportsmaster.
What I want is just basically a lighthearted episode, with Superboy somehow ending up on the Kent farm with Ma, Pa, and maybe Krypto if he DOES exist in the show's universe as it was implied. Robin got one with his circus trope in this weeks episode... and in that one, Superboy was a junkie... slapping on Shields 3 times! And he made a death threat to Roy (ironic because he was a raging druggie in the comics?) as well as just raging. Yeah, apparently he knows how big a threat Lex is, but doesn't hesitate to over stuff that he gave him that overrides his DNA... not even the 90s comic Superboy, fresh out of Cadmus and calling himself Superman, was EVER that stupid...
I would talk about the current Reboot Superboy in the comics... but I haven't read any of those comics because I can't afford to buy those comics. From Scans and previews, I can see that they're making his story more like a Robot seeking humanity as oppose to the comics' take of Peter Pan (I did it again, sorry.), and his fight with Kara as well with the buzz at N.O.W.H.E.R.E. labs, they're making him like Anakin Skywalker: Has powers that seem like the "FORCE" as well as giving him hair that looks like how Ani looked in the Clone Wars, as well the CONSTANT foreshadowing that he going to do something REALLY Bad, except with Superboy, we don't know as oppose we know the "twist" with Anakin.
Your thoughts?
